Effectiveness in vitro of essential oil of Ocimum tenuiflorum L. in bees Apis mellifera infested with mites Varroa destructor
Main Article Content
Abstract
This investigation had as objective to evaluate the effectiveness of essential oil of Ocimum tenuiflorum L in bees Apis mellifera infested with mites Varroa destructor. You uses an experimental design of complete blocks at random, with 5 treatments, a positive control (it essential oils of Thymus vulgaris) and an alone control. The period of evaluation extended for 24 h, with intervals of 1, 2, 4, 6 and 24 h. The used doses produced the fall of 100% of the mite and between a 63 and 87 % of mortality of these at the end of the rehearsal. For what you conclude that the oil of lived basil presents effectiveness about the fall and mortality of the mites Varroa destructor and that significant association exists between dead mites and the used doses.
