Abstract
En 1985 se iniciaron las publicaciones de la Estación Experimental Apícola con la salida del primer número de Apicultura de la Serie Ciencia y Técnica en la Agricultura editada por el CIDA del Ministerio de la Agricultura de Cuba.
La salida de un número anual de la revista apenas cubría las necesidades de publicación y finalmente en 1991 salió el último número de la serie. De entonces acá la publicación de los resultados científicos de la Apicultura se ha hecho en diversas publicaciones, lo que ha dificultado y dispersado su circulación en el círculo de lectores especializados de esta materia.
Para dar solución a los problemas de costos y disponibilidad de papel, hemos concebido la revista electrónica APICIENCIA, editada por nuestra Estación y sus investigadores y que contiene los resultados de investigación alcanzados en la Apicultura cubana. Nuestro propósito es que esta revista que nace al final del siglo XX, sea un mensajero de la actualidad y el qué hacer investigativo en el campo de la Apicultura Tropical y los productos apícolas para el siglo XXI.
El Comité Editorial y el Consejo Científico de la Estación, agradecerán sus críticas y sugerencias sobre la revista de modo que podamos perfeccionarla y poner a su disposición un producto informativo de alta calidad científica y técnica.
